The demise of the truly kosher deli, like the loss of the old "candy store" brings a tear to the eye. I live in Ct. and there is nothing that comes close to the old deli meat. But, I must admit that I feel like my father who complained 40 years ago that the corned beef in the kosher delis didn't taste the same. "It's just salted meat", he would complain.Katz's pastrami is wonderful, but it may be the only deli meat I've eaten in 40 years that tastes like it did in the old days. Even in New York jewish delis, the meat seems blander. Am I just an old fart, longing for a time that never was, or is there really a difference? Julian Offsay
