Irving's is delish!
Love their homemade pastrami and brisket!

I live by AC, and have visited Irving's twice...
I've posted pics on YELP, as well as on ROADFOOD.COM..(where I post as "ellen4641")

Irving's ROCKS ! But I believe it's changing DEMOGRAPHICS and TASTES that are hurting Irving's, more than the fact that the Office Depot went out of business in that shopping center.
TOYS R US was in that shopping center, too..
I don't tend to equate either of those types of businesses with going to deli's afterwards..

It's so much hard work to run a GOOD Jewish style deli with homemade pastrami (NOT those "slicer" deli's that just use Boars Head or Hebrew National, etc).

We need to make homemade pastrami and corned beef TRENDY AGAIN!

In the interest of saving a deli, my four-year-old and I drove from Brooklyn to Livingston and had lunch at Irving's on Saturday June 13 while doing a NJ errand.

It helped that my late stepfather Eddie Rosenthal managed nearby Eppes Essen for several years in the 1970s for Seymour Tabatchnick.

Turned out the manager at Irving's that afternoon was Seymour's mishpokhe -- another Tabatchnick.

The pastrami, slaw, pickles and my son't snap dog were excellent. Only caveats were I asked for gravy on the kasha varnishke to go, waitress noted it on check, but when I got home (to Brooklyn!) there was none; and the quart of matzoh ball to go had one lousy matzoh ball. In a quart. Other than that, a fine time was had by all.

I've already suggested to Marc Singer (owner) that he really needs better signage!!!
There is a small "delicatessen" sign that really does NOT do the place justice!

And there is certainly PLENTY of extra room on the marquee , since those other stores (Office Depot), etc have gone out of business...

Also my sis was just there today, June 30th, and she noticed a machine slicing her pastrami...
(no hand slicing anymore???)
What's going on?
We've been there 2 other times before, but this time she felt like she got the "scraps"...
the slices just were'nt that nice looking, and did'nt have good homemade pastrami taste anymore..
C'mon Mark, I'm trying to keep my sis happy!!!!!

Like Tony said (one post above mine), perhaps you can move to a better , less creepy location?
(it is getting a little creepy there, what with all the closed stores ...) (will this shopping center be the next entry in www.deadmalls.com???)
