The World’s Biggest Matzo Ball

Good god! This is insane.
The Guinness World Record for the world’s largest matzo ball was broken today in New York at Noah’s Ark Kosher Deli. The beast weighed 267 pounds! It was made from 1,000 eggs, 80 pounds of margarine, 20 pounds of chicken base and 200 pounds of matzo meal. (What, no schmaltz?)
The stunt was part of an exhibition game for the NBA, where the Knicks are playing an Israeli team.
I’m guessing it wasn’t a light, fluffy, floater. How’d it taste is what really matters.
This comes on the heels of more recent deli record setting.
This past Monday, the Carnegie Deli held their annual pickle eating contest. Who could eat the most pickles in 5 minutes? Crazy. Here’s the video from last year:
And a week ago, the Boston deli company More Flavor Per Pound had a Meg Ryan inspired “I’ll Have What She’s Having” foodgasm contest at Boston’s City Hall Plaza.
