Junior's is one of my favorite delis anywhere. In LA area the best are Junior's, Nate 'n' Al, and Brent's --not necessarily in that order, but each for different reasons.

I had the opportunity to discuss smoked fish with Marvin Saul about twenty years ago. He was very proud of the many appetizing items he imported from Europe.

He will be missed.

At the time I thought Marvin was quite old. Apparently I was wrong. He was only a few years older than me.

I just moved to LA and trying to hit all the delis in Save The Deli one at a time. Junior's was on my list, but now I'll have to move it to the top in honor of Marvin. Thanks for this lovely piece. Hope you are well. xo, dana joy
